C. S. Lewis lightbulb

I have the coolest app on my iPod.  Everyday it gives me a new quote from C. S. Lewis, one of my favorite authors ever.  Yesterday's quote was the longest, but best one yet.  Here is the part I liked best.

"Your real, new self (which is Christ's and also yours, and yours just because it is His) will not come as long as you are looking for it. It will come when you are looking for Him. Give up yourself, and you will find your real self. Lose your life and you will save it. Submit to death...and you will find eternal life.Look for yourself, and you will find in the long run only hatred, loneliness, despair, rage, ruin, and decay. But look for Christ and you will find Him, and with Him everything else thrown in." ~C. S. Lewis

The same principle can be found in the scriptures, from the Savior's own mouth.  In the New Testament, he tells us, For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. Luke 9:24

Then again to the early Saints in Kirtland, the Lord gave them this counsel.  And whoso layeth down his life in my cause, for my name’s sake, shall find it again, even life eternal. (Doctrine and Covenants 98:13)

What a beautiful concept! We can find eternal life by finding the Savior.  The time we spend in our mortal bodies is only to allow us to learn from and become like our Savior.  By not finding Him, we are lost.  His mortal life is central to our eternal life.

Work and Printers...

Today I worked for 12 straight hours.  I had no time to sit still or breathe.  I felt like I was drowning, and when I left, I hadn't finished everything on my never-ending list.

Whenever I have a day like this, I look for the little things to help me through. The littlest things in life make me the happiest.  Today, the little happy making part of my day was the smell of the paper right out of the printer.  In that brief second, the smell of the warm paper, and fresh ink, helped my mind to relax and gave me the chance to breathe.

I am SO grateful for the extra pair of jeans that I threw in my car yesterday without knowing that today I would need them desperately.
